Why would a lipstick that is distinctly much darker than my natural lipcolor not show up at all?

The lipstick is not sheer. Why would a lipstick that is distinctly much darker than my natural lipcolor not show up at all?
Usually drugstore lipsticks (Loreal, Cover Girl, etc...) don't look as dark on your lips as they do in the tude. If you want a darker color you should get a more expensive brand like MAC or Chanel. They put more pigment in the lipstick than the drugstore brands. Why would a lipstick that is distinctly much darker than my natural lipcolor not show up at all?
Probably because its cheap
Just because the visual stick color is darker, doesnt mean that the actually color will come off darker.
It's all about the amount of pigment in the lipstick. Matte lipsticks include a lot more pigment that glossy ones. Generally L'oreal lipsticks tend to be more glossy and therefore once applied the actual color you see on your lips is much lighter that what you see in the tube. I have used L'Oreal's Color Riche Bordeaux Noir and that is a very dark lipstick but overall, if you want a dark colored lipstick, select a matte or satin finish and you will be happy with the result!
